About Patrick

Practical Small Business Marketing Coach in Northwest Ohio

Patrick, your Perrysburg-Ohio based small business Duct Tape Marketing and digital technology coach, is among a new breed of marketing professionals that possess a holistic view of the world and keen observational powers. He is a system thinker, believes that “cookie cutter marketing” can no longer survive and the marketer’s view of the consumer and customer must be broader. He feels just as comfortable using tools in the digital arena to magnify the principles of branding as he does the more traditional mediums.

Patrick works closely with small businesses in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan to simplify marketing and create consistent, predictable growth by installing the Duct Tape Marketing System; a system that has been tested and proven in thousands of small businesses around the world.

My story - Small business. Marketing. Simplified.

I fell in love with marketing at an early age, but it is my grandfather who I credit with inspiring my coaching business.

During college I worked as an intern at my grandfather’s plumbing supply business and realized early on how easy it is for small businesses to be confused and overwhelmed by marketing. In my grandfather’s case, he didn’t know where to start or how to communicate what made his business different and, as a result, ended up competing on price. I witnessed first-hand his frustration and it bothered me to see him struggle to market his business.

Affected by what my grandfather experienced, I oriented my education and career toward marketing. While earning my MBA and gaining valuable corporate marketing experience, I never waned in my desire to simplify marketing for small business owners. Eventually, I discovered the Duct Tape Marketing System—a unique small business marketing system created by award-winning author and blogger John Jantsch. Immediately, its main principle appealed to me: to simplify marketing for small businesses.

Empowered by the DTM system, I launched PWG Marketing through which I offer marketing and digital technology coaching services to small businesses in northwest Ohio and southeast Michigan. As a Duct Tape coach I work as a coach-consultant hybrid. I provide advice and expertise when needed, accountability and strategy when stuck and proven tactics to help owners systematically build their business.

My role as a coach is to eliminate the confusion by holding small businesses accountable and helping to systematize their marketing strategies. Most small businesses have processes for things like making and delivering their products and services and billing, but are not likely to have a process or systematic approach to marketing. The system is the solution.

Today, many of the small business owners I talk to have the same questions, misperceptions and confusion about marketing. I work closely with small businesses to help dispel the “hocus pocus” marketing tactics that don’t contribute to the success of their business.

The stories of small and family businesses continue to inspire and fascinate me. I’d love to hear about the challenges of starting your business or what drives you to do what you do. If you’re interested in sharing, please send an email to patrick@pwgmarketing.com.

I am the father of an amazing daughter, Penelope. My wife, Joely, is an equally amazing woman and my best friend. We live in a simple two story house in Perrysburg, Ohio with our dog (a beagle), Scully. I like learning about, discussing and coaching marketing. I like to cook, read and spend time with my family. I love my life and try really hard to keep it fairly simple. Some days I’m more successful at accomplishing that than others, but tomorrow’s always a new day.
