Penelope, mom and dad are all doing great; maybe a bit sleep deprived but nothing we can’t handle.

The PWG Marketing website is finally live!
We’ve spent the last six weeks developing copy and experimenting with the layout. A big thank you goes out to James Bake for all of his work and guidance in developing a site that we hope becomes a source of inspiration and information for small business owners.
You don’t need to look too closely to figure out that our website is based on WordPress, a state-of-the-art publishing platform with a focus on aesthetics, web standards, usability and functionality. WordPress has most commonly been used for blogging however it can also be utilized to build websites that allows the owner to edit his or her own content.
As a small business, I’m always trying to find ways to get things done without having to hire someone. I’m also very impatient and like instant results. If you’re at all like me, you might want to consider a website that will give you control over your content without the need to pay a designer to make simple text changes.
The PWG Marketing site is based on a Revolution theme by Brian Gardner at BG Media. Brian’s themes blur the lines between a website and a blog. His themes feature drop down navigation and home pages that look more like a website home page than a blog. In fact, our’s is a website and a blog–all in one.
Small business benefits of using WordPress for website development
- Clean, uncluttered customizable design - adding features, widgets, plug-ins and upgrades are very easy. Even if you have a professional do the initial design work, you – the business owner – can add pages, edit pages, or change photos. Your choices are limitless.
- Easy-to-use content management system - building or maintaining your WordPress website requires only an Internet connection. The content management component of WordPress allows the small business owner with no HTML knowledge to manage, create, modify and remove content from their website without the need a a Web designer and Webmaster.
- Built-in search engine optimization - WordPress comes the ability to “ping” the search engines to show them you have added new content. This invites the search engines back to see what you have to say – theoretically increasing the crawl rate. Continue to add good, relevant, useful content, and your website should be ranking in no time for basic keywords related to your business.
